GITEP offers a flexible route for those who wish to undertake part-time teacher training, offering trainees the opportunity to tailor their training over 4, 5 or 6 terms.
Flexi-trainees complete their professional studies and subject pathway sessions alongside the full-time trainees in year 1, with school placements and PGCE assignments forming the flexible element, typically spread across four terms. However, we are happy to discuss your personal needs and circumstances at interview and at the start of the course. Days and times of school placement arrangements will be agreed between the trainee, placement school and GITEP.
The course must be completed within 2 years, but we recommend spending a minimum of three days in school a week (including subject pathway) to get the most out of the teaching practice placements. Below are two examples of what a flexible route might look like.
