Becky Rose, GITEP SCITT Director

Becky has worked in education in Gloucestershire since 2004 as a secondary teacher and school leader.  She has been a head of department and faculty, an induction tutor for early career teachers, and a Specialist Leader of Education. Before joining the GITEP SCITT leadership team in September 2021, Becky was the Initial Teacher Training Manager at Ribston Hall High School in Gloucester for many years and the GITEP SCITT Subject Leader for History. She leads the Gloucestershire Clio, a county-wide professional development network for history teachers, and is a member of the Chartered College of Teaching.  Becky is an Honorary Teaching Fellow of the University of Bristol.

Prior to taking up the role of Programme Lead in September 2024 Nat taught Geography across all key stages in our county for over a decade. From early on in her teaching career Nat became passionate about high-quality initial teacher training (ITT) and throughout her time in the classroom she mentored many Geography trainees and held further responsibility in ITT as the GITEP Professional Lead for her school. Nat is particularly interested in curriculum design, Mentor professional development and trainee experience with the overarching drive of high-quality teaching for our pupils in our county. Outside of work Nat enjoys long walks in the woods, true crime documentaries, listening to music and watching ice hockey.

Cariad Comfort, GITEP Primary Programme Lead

Cariad has 17 years in education, working across the whole Primary Phase and including 9 years in Senior Leadership and Headship. She is currently in role as the Deputy Director of Odyssey Teaching School Hub, focusing on the development of Schools-Based Primary Teacher Training routes and the delivery of National Professional Qualifications. She is part of the GLA Trust School Improvement Team and has a passion for Early Years and Effective Professional Learning. She is an Evidence Leader in Education with the EEF Gloucestershire research school and has a passion for Teacher Development. She is also a Lead Mentor for the University of Gloucestershire. Outside of Teaching, Cariad is a keen Netballer and loves to read!

Victoria Robinson, GITEP Marketing and Administration

Vicks started her career working in various marketing roles with the travel and tourism sector before becoming a teaching assistant at several Gloucestershire primary schools. Her role at GITEP allows her to combine her passion for education with her marketing skills and she enjoys the diversity of her role and the mix of different people she gets to work with.  Outside of work, Vicks is a mum to two teenage girls and loves to run, swim and travel

Chloe Hawke, GITEP Recruitment & Administration

Recruitment & Course Administration

Chloe coordinates GITEP’s administrative recruitment activities, answering queries about the course, monitoring and assisting candidates through the application process, arranging interviews and providing pre-course information. She has previously spent seven years in the training sector and hold an English degree. Outside of work, she’s a mum to a lively four-year-old boy and enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, and cooking.

Nicola Warren-Lee
Programme Co-Director – GITEP PGCE, University of Bristol

Nicola Warren-Lee started teaching geography in state maintained, comprehensive secondary schools and went on to support beginning teachers in a mentoring role.  This role developed into a research interest and she gained her doctorate in 2017; focussing on the opportunities for student teachers in uncovering experienced teachers’ tacit knowledge. Nicola has been supporting beginning teachers for over twenty years and is a strong believer in the power of creativity and autonomy in developing strong, research-informed teachers. Nicola has recently worked on research projects in climate change education, teacher agency, and practical theorising. Her interests include cold water swimming, triathlon, competitive cake making, ice skating, and she is a dog agility trainer.

Jon James, GITEP PGCE Programme Director, University of Bristol

Jon James
Programme Co-Director – GITEP PGCE, University of Bristol

Jon works in the School of Education at the University of Bristol, leading and teaching on several teacher education courses. Prior to this, he spent over 20 years teaching science and working in a variety of leadership positions in schools, also spending a number of years as a local education authority adviser. Jon has had responsibility within the School of Education for working with local teachers to develop their professional learning. He has recently completed a Ph.D that sought to better understand the complexity of teachers’ classroom practice, particularly early in their career. Outside of work, he volunteers in an alternative provision unit in South Bristol, is a trustee of the Trust in Learning Academy group in Bristol and coaches athletics with his local club in Somerset.
