School experience is important for people who are looking to become teachers. It offers an opportunity to work with children and young people within a real school environment, so you can be sure you’re making the right decision about your future.
Teacher Taster Days
Please look at our events page for dates of Teacher Taster Days being held by Partnership Schools. These are an excellent opportunity to visit a school, see lessons, meet serving teachers and find out about routes into teaching.
Get School Experience
You can also access school experience through the DfE’s Get School Experience scheme. You may find opportunities to spend more time in schools or to have a more individual, immersive experience than on a taster day.
Currently the following partnership schools are involved in the scheme:
Archway School – Stroud
Balcarras School – Cheltenham
Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre – Cheltenham
Churchdown School – Gloucester
Cleeve School – Cheltenham
Farmor’s School – Fairford
Pate’s Grammar School – Cheltenham
Pittville School – Cheltenham
Sir Thomas Rich’s School – Gloucester
Stroud High School – Stroud
The Crypt School – Gloucester
Informal Experience
Many of our Partnership schools will offer informal experiences if you contact them direct. If you would like support organising visits to other schools in Gloucestershire, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to facilitate this.
