GITEP Primary trainees

Our Primary trainees have been busy this term, getting to know their schools and building positive relationships with their classes. They have been developing their knowledge in effective teaching and learning through centre-based training. Sessions have allowed trainees to explore:

  • The Early Years and National Curriculums
  • Developing professional metalanguage
  • Understanding the impact of a ‘Schwa’ in the teaching of Phonics!

Next term, sessions will broaden understanding of SEND, EAL and Adaptive Teaching.

Last week they embarked on their first ITAP, focusing on High Expectations and Behaviour Management. They looked deeply at the EEF guidance in improving behaviour in schools, thought critically about the recommendations and reviewed the WALKTHRU teaching strategies to help their practice. They had great fun visiting Springbank Primary Academy to see them in action.
